À propos de l'événement
Welcome to the Soft and Low Social Night! Embracing the spirit of the eponymous play party, Probe and the Soft and Low Crew are bringing you this event on the last Monday of every month. Get ready to mingle and giggle your way through a chill evening.
Dolls….. To some? They are a thing of children but if we look back throughout history, we will find dolls have been around for quite some time and not just as childrens’ play toys. Dolls play a significant role in many cultures as cultural ambassadors, tradition keepers, tools for teaching and entertainment. They span across ancient religion and folk art to modern representations of societal norms. Dolls are known to help reflect and shape cultural beliefs across the world.
Join us at our next Soft and Low Social night as The Primal Queen leads us on another spiritually lead craft where she teaches us the basics of doll-making; a spiritual craft incredibly integral to the path of her journey. Don't forget to think of an intention you wish to bring into your life and here is a reading to further your knowledge on dolls. If you would prefer to bring and do your own craft? That is also more than welcome.https://www.silticrafts.com/dolls-and-inspirations/dolls-in-folk-magic-modern-witchcraft-esoteric-and-spiritual-practices
For this craft, we do have some material and ribbon but you are more than welcome and encouraged to bring your own materials that speak to you. The more the materials speak to you, the better. We have lots of string and thread for tying but, again, you are welcome to bring your own.
Material: this can be old t-shirts, pillow cases, sheets, thin dish towels, scarves, shawls. The thicker the material, the harder it will be to hold it together so try to choose very thin material. Any design that speaks to YOU.
Sizing of your materials:
Main body: 18in × 18 inch
Arms: 6in × 8inSkirt: 5in × 8in
Scarf: 6-8in long (or as long as you want, it's a scarf) (ribbon can work well here)
Belt: ribbon will work well here as well.
Extras you may want to consider for aesthetics: beads, ribbons, lace, buttons, small shells, stones, yarn, wool, ect for embellishments.
Extras to consider for spirit: herbs, spices, stones, trinkets, charms, nails, hair, ect. You may want to consider the choice of material and go with a natural fiber like hemp or cotton.
Note: You do not require anything for a face unless you’re going with a specific tradition. This will be explained during our social.
Soft and Low events aim to be inclusive and more manageable for those who require a less overstimulating environment. Picture a night out with soft dimmed lighting, with a quieter atmosphere and a no scent policy. We strive to create an atmosphere that is pleasant and promotes creating bonds in a peaceful atmosphere.
Attendees will undergo a scent assessment (sniff test) from our greeter and those who do not meet our no scent requirements will be kindly offered the opportunity to return at another time, thus ensuring a scent-free environment for the comfort of all. We kindly request that attendees refrain from using scented products such as perfumes, colognes, scented lotions, and fragranced body and hair products (shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, hairsprays etc.) the day of the event or during the upcoming event. This measure ensures a comfortable environment for all participants with sensitivities or allergies.
This is a drop in event. Membership is not required. Light snacks and non alcoholic beverages are always provided. Feel free to contribute to our intergalactic cause with a donation - your support fuels our mission to explore and connect the community together.
At this event, play is not permitted. Our social nights and non-membered events are for connection, conversation, and community. We ask all attendees to respect the space and keep interactions within the boundaries of a social setting.
