À propos de l'événement
What comes between learning your first knots and learning to fly?
The world of floor work, or "floorplay" is a vast and exciting territory with limitless avenues of connection and expression to explore! While some think of floor rope as just a step on the journey in growing your rope skills, the rich opportunities for scene building it presents make it a destination in itself. In this twice-monthly class taught by @Kosmick (they/them), featuring @Truly (she/her) as co-teacher for this class, we will focus on both technical skills, learning a structural harness that can be incorporated in future rope scenes, and the art of scene building through manipulation of the body, environment, and atmosphere. The time will be split between instruction and experimentation. Come prepared to learn and to play!
Prerequisites: Introduction to Rope & Rope Foundations or Equivalent. Rope tops should have knowledge of basic frictions, rope safety, and rope handling. Rope bottoms should be familiar with their bodies' reactions in rope, rope safety, and basic body checks. Both partners should be familiar with communication in rope - this skill will also be practiced in class.
This class requires a tying partner. Tickets are sold per person. We aim to give opportunities to everyone to have access to their community despite financial barriers and we recognize not everyone has the means to purchase a full price ticket for all events. Choose the ticket price that suits your preference! All tickets are for the entry to an event and you get no more or less for the price you choose.
Required equipment: minimum 4 lengths of bondage rope, safety tools, whatever aftercare you may require.

@Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.
