A Probe Rope Performance Evening
Heure et lieu
29 juin 2024, 20 h 00 – 30 juin 2024, 02 h 00
Probe Ottawa, 41 York St 4th floor, Ottawa, ON K1N 5S7, Canada
À propos de l'événement
Join us for a performance evening exploring the myriad of possibilities offered through rope bondage, presented by Probe staff and instructors! See the spectacle on June 19th from 8PM-2AM. **Please note, our entry door will now be locked after 12AM (midnight) for the safety of our members and staff.
Our evening will feature two unique performances that showcase the different directions a rope scene can take. First, Kosmick, our resident rope instructor, and Miel, the President and CEO of Probe, will explore emotional vulnerability, fear, and sensuality in a performance featuring partial suspension and floor rope. Then, Knotigan, a guest rope instructor at Probe, and Josdine, Probe’s Operations Manager, will delight you with acrobatic suspension pushing the limits of dynamic rope bondage, and of Probe’s suspension frame.
For those who have yet to see the space, this is a great opportunity to take a peek, and to check out what Ottawa’s largest suspension frame can really do! For those just starting their rope journey, or curious about what rope bondage is all about, this is your chance to see what can happen a little further on down the road.
Tickets are on a sliding scale, choose the ticket price that suits your preference! All tickets are for the entry to an event and you get no more or less for the price you choose. Membership is not required to attend.
Dress up (or down!) and enjoy a drink at our one-night-only bar while the staff of Probe delight and entertain you. After the show, we invite you to test out the space for yourselves with a low-key rope jam stretching into the night.
Please play and drink responsibly – those appearing intoxicated will be asked to stop play by staff.
About the Performers
Kosmick
@Kosmick (they/them) has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. Kosmick enjoys rope on both sides of the slash: a solid foundation in bottoming and self-tying informs their approach to topping. They love exploring power dynamics through rope bondage and BDSM, flirting with the borders of pleasure and pain, and delving into the intimacy and connection inherent in rope and power exchange. A self-described “loving sadist”, their tying style combines sensuality and sadism. Kosmick is a regular rope instructor at Probe, running classes and events for rope enthusiasts of all kinds.
Miel
Introducing Miel (they/them), aka @SweetAsMiel on FetLife, and the President and CEO of Probe. A passionate kinkster and enthusiastic rope newb, Miel embraces their beginner status with humility and a desire for new experiences. They approach each encounter with open mindedness and enjoy exploring the world of restrictive rope, combining it with a sprinkle of sadism and a healthy dose of sensuality. Miel finds immense pleasure in surrendering control, feeling the burning embrace of the ropes, and exploring what fear can look and feel like within the confines of a well negotiated scene. With a background in stage performance, Miel is excitedly preparing for their first-ever rope performance, where they hope to convey vulnerability, connection, trust, and artistic expression.
Knotigan
@Knotigan (he/him) started his journey in artistic Japanese bondage 5 years ago, and started performing in 2021 with a number of performances at NDC and Tension Montreal’s Soiree Shibari events. He works intensely with his partners to create performances combining both art and engineering into a dramatic rope suspension shows. Knotigan will be teaching specialized rope workshops at Probe in the future.
Josdine
Sara or @josdine (she/her) connected with the rope community and started getting tied back in 2013 in Vancouver, BC. Her love for the craft has continued to grow over the years as has her drive to build and support the community around her. Branching out to self tying, tying partners, and hanging out in trees, rope weaves into all parts of her life. Previously teaching with Ottawa Twisted Kink, she is excited to bring her experiences and passion to continued education and to this debut performance at Probe.
