Rope for All — Rope is for Everybody and Every Body!

You’ve heard it a lot, but what does it really mean? 

The adaptability of rope bondage allows it to be applied to suit anybody who wishes to be in ropes, but it is far from a one size fits all application. The skills and techniques used for tying one body may fail entirely when used on another, and we must learn flexibility as well as become familiar with aspects of anatomy and physics to really put this theory into practice. 

If you are nervous to tie somebody larger than yourself, or just larger than the people you usually see in rope or have tied in the past, this is the class for you!

If you have been told you are “too big to be tied” or you are afraid to bottom for rope because you haven’t seen yourself represented in bondage classes or content, this is also the class for you!

Learn from both the top and bottom side tips and tricks to approach true adaptability in rope bondage, and work collaboratively to achieve your rope goals and reaffirm that rope is truly for everybody!

Prerequisites:

• Intro to Rope and Rope Foundations or familiarity with basic knots and frictions

• Uplines 1 or knowledge of safe uplines for partial suspension (if choosing to add optional uplines to ties)

• Top and bottom awareness of body mechanics and active bottoming techniques

Required materials:

• minimum six to eight (6-8) pieces of bondage rope

• suspension equipment  (load-rated carabiners, suspension ring(s), or suspension plate; climbing strap) (if choosing to add optional uplines to ties)

• rope safety equipment

• notetaking equipment 

This class requires a tying partner. Unpartnered participants must be comfortable partnering up with other participants in the class.

Tickets are sold per person. Tickets are available on a sliding scale to promote inclusivity and accessibility. Please choose the ticket price that makes this event accessible to you. All ticket types provide the same access to the event.

This workshop is open to members only. If you don’t have your membership yet, you can sign up online or come by to see the space on one of our social nights and sign up in person. We would love to see you!

Doors will open 15 minutes before class starts and will close 20 minutes after class starts.

Kosmick

@Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.

Sparks

Sparks (she/her) is a strong and communicative rope bottom who’s been learning and developing her skills for the last 10 years. She is especially drawn to physically challenging, sadistic ties and the trust and communication they require. Passionate about inclusive rope education, Sparks advocates for fat and under-represented bodies in rope spaces and loves helping others discover the beauty, strength, and possibility these bodies can bring.
