Self Tie Your Senses

Wrap new layers of sensation and play into your self ties

Blindfolds, earplugs, gloves: in kink scenes, each can offer you a unique experience of the world by limiting the typical input of your senses. In self tie, they can deepen your perceptions of other sensations, allowing strange and different flavours of play in ropes.

In this class, @redselfties will discuss and demonstrate methods for inducing temporary sensory deprivation in self tie. He’ll offer tools for exploring headspaces, managing risks and taking full advantage of the unique experiences that sensory deprivation can offer in self tie, before offering participants an opportunity to try methods out for themselves.

Self tying is the focus of this class, so partnered tying won’t be supported.

Prerequisites: Intro to Self Tie or equivalent

Required equipment:

• Safety shears

• items that you’re willing to explore as tools for sensory deprivation — blindfolds, earplugs, gloves, etc.

• 4–6 pieces of rope (available from Probe if you do not have your own)

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease. We recommend opting for clothing that allows freedom of movement and flexibility. Additionally, bring along any specific equipment you may require for your personal comfort during the class.

Please note doors will open 15 minutes before the start of class and doors will close 20 minutes after the start of class.

Tickets are sold per person. Tickets are available on a sliding scale to promote inclusivity and accessibility. Please choose the ticket price that makes this event accessible to you. All ticket types provide the same access to the event.

Red or @redselfties (any pronouns) has been, well, self-tying since she picked up a rope. Self-tie is a core part of his rope practice, from performances to self-scenes to using his body as a centerpiece for his art projects. Red loves sharing her passion for self-tie through instruction, skill-sharing, and mentoring, and she’s thrilled to be able to continue to do so at Probe.
