About the event
Self Tie Sequences
Discover techniques that will help your self ties flow into scenes
Some of the most satisfying self ties are a clever blend of improvisation and planning — but what’s the right balance for you? In Self Tie Sequences, @redselfties will give you the tools she uses to keep her self ties feeling both grounded and free-flowing, both contained and playful, both risk-aware and raw. Structure and feeling can blend beautifully together within the push and pull of a strong self-tie sequence!
We’ll begin by discussing the opportunities that self-tie sequences offer for scenes. Next, we’ll identify the levels of planning that go into building a self-tie sequence, and evaluate the benefits and risks of each one. Then, @redselfties will demonstrate how she applies these tools by building a completely new sequence for herself. Finally, each participant will be given a chance to build their own self-tie sequence by applying the planning and execution tools introduced in this class.
The focus of this class is soft skills: specifically, strategies for planning, self-negotiation and execution of a pre-planned self-tie sequence. The class is accessible to anyone who has taken Intro to Self Tie.
Self tying is the focus of this class, so partnered tying won’t be supported.

Red
Red or @redselfties (any pronouns) has been, well, self-tying since she picked up a rope. Self-tie is a core part of his rope practice, from performances to self-scenes to using his body as a centerpiece for his art projects. Red loves sharing her passion for self-tie through instruction, skill-sharing, and mentoring, and she’s thrilled to be able to continue to do so at Probe.
