About the event
Are you dreaming of intricate knotwork? Excited by the prospect of restraint and control? Just dipping your toe into a new world or feeling your understanding of something you've played with before? This class taught by @Kosmick (they/them) is a great place to start.
Like any solid structure, good rope bondage requires good foundations. The knots, frictions, concepts, and techniques taught in this class will form the foundations for wherever your bondage explorations will take you. This class will focus on specific building blocks and theory you can take away and apply in many rope scenarios, as well as reviewing essential considerations for rope safety.
Solo or partnered participants are welcomed, however this class will focus on techniques of tying primarily. Tickets are sold per person. We aim to give opportunities to everyone to have access to their community despite financial barriers and we recognize not everyone has the means to purchase a full price ticket for all events. Choose the ticket price that suits your preference! All tickets are for the entry to an event and you get no more or less for the price you choose.
Required equipment: minimum 2 pieces of rope (some pieces available if you do not have your own)
Doors will open 15 minutes before class starts at 7PM.
This workshop is open to members only. If you don’t have your membership yet, you can sign up online or come by to see the space on one of our social nights and sign up in person. We would love to see you!
Starting in September, Rope Foundations will be presented as a six part series. Classes will include: Equipment in Depth & First Knots, Simple Frictions and Flow, Frictions for Structure, Rope Handling, Body Blocking, & Diamonds, Triangles & Structure for Strength. Each module will begin with a review of concepts from the previous module, as well as a reminder of rope safety and an equipment check. Registration will be available for individual modules, as well as for the series as a whole, depending on your learning needs and goals
@Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.
