Predicament Bondage relies on the tension between two outcomes, giving the bottom in question just enough freedom to influence their fate (or teeter perilously in between). In this fun style of play psychological sadism comes into play just as much as the physical, and both participants play an active role in building the energy and excitement. 

In this class we will explore the surprisingly challenging art of arranging a predicament tie that allows for aspects of both choice and inevitability: what goes into setting a predicament up, what makes for a “good” predicament? Students will learn classic elements of predicament, while ultimately crafting unique ties to delight and torment their partners. Predicament is not one size fits all, so expect to bring your own tastes (and distastes) to the table as we explore this world together through partial suspension!

Prerequisites:

• Intro to Rope and Rope Foundations or familiarity with basic knots and frictions

• Uplines 1 or knowledge of safe uplines for partial suspension

• top and bottom awareness of body mechanics and active bottoming techniques

Required materials:

• minimum eight (8) pieces of bondage rope suitable for suspension (jute/reinforced jute, hemp, Hempex, POSH, or bondage nylon)

• suspension equipment (load-rated carabiners, suspension ring(s), or suspension plate; climbing strap)

• clothes pins/bandanas/personal toys to suit the participants desires

• rope safety equipment

• notetaking equipment 

  
  

This class requires a tying partner.

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease. We recommend opting for clothing that allows freedom of movement and flexibility. Additionally, bring along any specific equipment you may require for your personal comfort during the class.

Please note doors will open 15 minutes before the start of class and doors will close 20 minutes after the start of class.

Tickets are sold per person. Tickets are available on a sliding scale to promote inclusivity and accessibility. Please choose the ticket price that makes this event accessible to you. All ticket types provide the same access to the event.

Kosmick

@Kosmick (they/them) has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.

RopeyBunny

@Ropeybunny is a playful, energetic and experimental masochist who is an active contributor to the Ottawa  and Montreal community. Starting off with rope, she eventually discovered a love for medical play and all things scary. She often finds herself in painfully sadistic situations and is excited to share her passions with you. Ropeybunny believes in fostering an atmosphere of open communication where bottoms can share their knowledge along side tops and enjoys teaching (and taking) classes that are co-taught.
