About the event
For anyone curious and ready to explore the many-faceted world of rope bondage.
A crash course with @Kosmick (they/them) and @josdine (she/her) in everything you need to start having fun, fulfilling, and safe rope scenes, no previous experience required.
This two-part class will begin with a discussion session delving into what rope bondage is and what it can be for you, and the basics of rope safety, risk awareness, communication, and consent. Afterwards we will jump right into the fun stuff; learn your first knot and play with practical exercises that get the creative juices flowing while drilling rope handling and body manipulation skills that will enhance rope play at any level.
Tying partners are not required, however unpartnered participants are encouraged to pair up if they are comfortable to get the most out of this class. Self tying is also supported.
Tickets are sold per person. We aim to give opportunities to everyone to have access to their community despite financial barriers. Choose the ticket price that suits your preference! All tickets are for the entry to an event and you get no more or less for the price you choose.
Required equipment: minimum 2 pieces of rope (available from Probe if you do not have your own)
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease. We recommend opting for clothing that allows freedom of movement and flexibility. Additionally, bring along any specific equipment you may require for your personal comfort during the class.
This workshop does not require a membership. Doors will open 15 minutes before the start of the class.
Kosmick
@Kosmick (they/them) has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.
Josdine
Sara or @josdine (she/her) connected with the rope community and started getting tied back in 2013 in Vancouver, BC. Her love for the craft has continued to grow over the years as has her drive to build and support the community around her. Branching out to self tying, tying partners, and hanging out in trees, rope weaves into all parts of her life. Previously teaching with Ottawa Twisted Kink, she is excited to bring her experiences and passion to education at Probe.
