About the event

From Floor to Ceiling - Rope Class

An intensive class exploring ties on the ground and elevating them into partial suspension

This class bundle is designed as a full arc highlighting the versatile Diamond Chest Harness with arm variations. We begin on the floor, focusing on structures and restraint through harness building for floorplay. From there, we take those same “suspension worthy” ties for the body and employ uplines to bring them into partial suspension. Partial suspension can be a natural extension of floorplay, adding additional restraint, support, strain, and leverage to your scenes, and being “partial” does not make these ties any less exciting or challenging than full suspension.

Playing on the Floor 1PM-3PM: In the first half of this intensive, we will explore a physical form through an exploration-based approach to building the Diamond Chest Harness and structures to support that form. Because every body, tying pair, and scene is unique, harnesses can never be one-size fits all, and they don’t have to be! You will learn how to build from your Foundations, putting together familiar components into new forms, and building confidence in your ability to problem solve while developing your personal rope play style within a supportive environment focused on safer practices and demystifying rope bondage dogma.

Flirting with the Ceiling 3PM-5PM: Explore how the Diamond Chest Harness is elevated into partials, allowing you the unique opportunity to utilize the force of gravity in conjunction with the modifying pressures from the ground to achieve struggle and form that can only be found in this practice. Whether your interest is in struggle and suffering, or sensuality and support, this approach allows you to explore both through the same harnesses across different contexts.

The class will cover both technical tying and problem solving, as well as scene building supported by that tying, with skills for players on both sides of the slash. There will be time to explore and experiment to discover how these ties best work for you, your partner, and your rope scene goals.

Prerequisites:

  • Intro to Rope and Rope Foundations (I-VI) or familiarity with basic knots and frictions (X friction, half moon friction, munter, L friction)

  • Uplines 1 or knowledge of safe uplines for partial suspension

  • Top and bottom awareness of body mechanics and active bottoming techniques

Required materials:

  • minimum six to eight (6-8) pieces of bondage rope & bondage rope suitable for suspension (jute/reinforced jute, hemp, Hempex, POSH, or bondage nylon)

  • rope safety equipment

  • notetaking equipment

This class requires a tying partner. Tickets are sold per person. Tickets are available for the floor portion, the ceiling portion, or both classes bundled together.

This workshop is open to members only. If you don’t have your membership yet, you can sign up online or come by to see the space on one of our social nights and sign up in person. We would love to see you!

Kosmick

@Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.

Ropey Bunny

@Ropeybunny is a playful, energetic and experimental masochist who is an active contributor to the Ottawa  and Montreal community. Starting off with rope, she eventually discovered a love for medical play and all things scary. She often finds herself in painfully sadistic situations and is excited to share her passions with you. Ropeybunny believes in fostering an atmosphere of open communication where bottoms can share their knowledge along side tops and enjoys teaching (and taking) classes that are co-taught.
