About the event
Box Ties Rope Class
A classic rope bondage tie, the box tie, is as enticing as it is intimidating. While its beauty is often observed in advanced bondage images, many are also aware of the danger associated with this tie.
In this class we will explore the basic structures that make this tie so solid and desirable as a restraint and suspension choice. We will also play with adaptations to allow this tie to work on a variety of body types and in a variety of situations, with a focus on bottom, comfort and safer tying practices. Despite its rigid appearance, the box tie is highly adaptable and each tying is unique.
Bottom-lead education will be provided as this tie requires the active participation of both partners.
Prerequisites:
Intro to Rope or equivalent experience
Rope Foundations or familiarity with basic knows and frictions (X friction, half moon friction, munter, L friction)
Top and bottom awareness of body mechanics, recommend active bottoming techniques
Required equipment:
Minimum four pieces of bondage rope
Safety equipment (including safety shears/cutter)
Notebook and pen
This class requires a tying partner. Tickets are sold per person. We aim to increase accessibility and inclusivity for our community and offer tickets on a sliding scale. Kosmick
@Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage reaching back into childhood stories of damsels in distress. They began studying rope bondage in 2011, and intensified that study in 2016 after joining the Ottawa BDSM community. As an instructor, Kosmick takes an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels to experiment with what they know and pursue avenues to have fun with their rope. They view rope as a tool of expression, and look to inspire others to build connection and intimacy through their tying.
Truly
With over 10 years of experience in rope bondage spaces, Truly (she/her) is passionate about active bottoming, modular ties, and creating emotive experiences in the classroom. Primarily a rope bottom, she also has experience with tying and self-suspension. Truly’s student-centered teaching style focuses on helping rope bottoms cultivate intuitive body awareness and gain the confidence to define and communicate their specific needs. With a rich history of rope education and performance across Quebec and Ontario, she is always eager to share her love of ropecraft.
